Following the flag-raising ceremony, 70 exemplary young people representing Viet Nam’s youth from all regions of the country, dressed in traditional Ao Dai, carried the torch onto the stage, symbolising faith, aspiration to contribute, solidarity, and the vitality of Viet Nam’s younger generation.
Speaking at the programme, Nguyen Thanh Hoai, Secretary of the Hue City Youth Union and Chair of the Viet Nam Youth Federation’s Hue chapter, stressed that it was an honour for Hue City to host the second stage of the “I Love My Fatherland” journey.
He noted that the programme provides an opportunity for youth union members and young people nationwide to explore and gain a deeper appreciation of the revolutionary tradition and the distinctive historical and cultural values of Hue City, thereby nurturing their love for the homeland and their aspiration to contribute to the nation’s development.
After the launch ceremony, participants took part in a series of activities, including stalls showcasing Hue’s cultural experiences, a Youth Fest, visits, and gift-giving events for young people with disabilities and those facing hardship at the Hy Vong Hue Vocational Training Centre.
The seven-stage “I Love My Fatherland” journey commenced in Nghe An – the hometown of President Ho – on May 16, before visiting historical, cultural, and revolutionary sites in Hue City, Tuyen Quang, Dien Bien, Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau Provinces, and Ho Chi Minh City, respectively, and will conclude in Ha Noi in October.
