The General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum is divided into many spaces such as exhibition area, reading room, office, storage, and garden. The museum displays 395 documents, artifacts, and images about the life and revolutionary career of General Nguyen Chi Thanh, his important contributions to Thua Thien Hue and the whole country in general through the two resistance wars against France and the US, as well as to the cause of building socialism in the north.

The main exhibition themes include hometown, family, revolutionary journey, his role as an outstanding politician and military figure, his important milestones, and the gratitude of family, hometown, and country. The exhibits are presented in a modern and formal style, featuring interactive technology, touch screens, and historically valuable documentary films. Among the highlights are his writings and speeches on military building, fighting individualism, agriculture and rural development, emulation movements in production, strategies of fighting and defeating the US, and documents of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) analysing General Nguyen Chi Thanh. The museum also has a library with hundreds of books written by or about the late general, serving readers in their research and study.

The General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum and the system of memorial sites related to the General in Thua Thien Hue have become attractive places for sightseeing and tourism, to educate about traditions, and to enhance patriotism and revolutionary spirit for all generations.

General Nguyen Chi Thanh was born on January 1, 1914, in a poor peasant family in Niem Pho Village, Quang Tho Commune, Quang Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province. Throughout his revolutionary career, regardless of his position, in the most difficult fronts, in the hottest times, General Nguyen Chi Thanh always excellently fulfilled the tasks assigned by the Party, state, and people. He is a shining example for future generations to follow.

In order to recognise the great contributions of General Nguyen Chi Thanh to his homeland and country, while promoting the value of cultural heritage and developing the museum system in Thua Thien Hue Province, on June 2, 2022, the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee issued a decision allowing the operation of the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum.
