At the same time, it provides a valuable opportunity to promote the image of Viet Nam — its country, people and culture — to the local population and international friends.

The embassies of five ASEAN countries in Nigeria — Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam — together with three guest countries, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (RoK), took part in the ASEAN+3 Fair held in Nigeria recently.

At the event, the Vietnamese Embassy in Nigeria organised a wide range of activities to introduce the country, its people, and its culture to local residents and international visitors.

The Embassy’s exhibition booth stood out with traditional dishes such as fried spring rolls, fried rice, and Vietnamese coffee, offering guests a taste of the distinctive and rich flavours of Viet Nam. In addition, the Embassy displayed publications and products (Vietnam Pictorial, maps, brochures, and handicrafts), along with standees showcasing cultural heritage and famous tourist destinations across Viet Nam’s northern, central, and southern regions, creating a vibrant and engaging promotional space.

During the fair, Ambassador Bui Quoc Hung and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Nigeria personally introduced traditional dishes, cultural products, and key Vietnamese goods to guests and international friends, fostering a sense of closeness and leaving a positive impression.

The Vietnamese booth drew considerable interest from numerous guests and visitors. Attendees engaged in exchanges, sampled Vietnamese cuisine, explored the country’s culture and tourism, and expressed keen interest and appreciation for the products on display.

On this occasion, Ambassador Bui Quoc Hung also held discussions with several Nigerian businesses, taking the opportunity to learn about their interests and explore potential opportunities for trade and business cooperation with Viet Nam.

Active participation in ASEAN events not only strengthens unity and ties among ASEAN embassies in Nigeria but also offers a valuable platform to promote the image of Viet Nam to international friends.

Through activities showcasing cuisine, tourism, and cultural exchange, the Vietnamese Embassy has helped spread the country’s national identity, while joining hands with the ASEAN community in supporting the humanitarian objectives of the fundraising programme for charitable activities. These efforts affirm Viet Nam’s role as an active and responsible member of the ASEAN Committee in Abuja, contributing to the strengthening of friendship, cooperation, and development within the diplomatic community and with the host country.
