The contest, launched by the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, is open to students nationwide who share a passion for painting.

According to Truong Thi Hien, Chairwoman of the Association, the competition aims to provide an opportunity for students to learn more about the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba as well as the land, people and revolutionary history of the Caribbean country.

Entries should focus on the longstanding, close relations between Vietnam and Cuba as well as the resilient and unyielding spirit of Cubans during their just struggle for independence and freedom.

Entrants should submit their works to Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts University, 5 Phan Dang Luu Street, ward 3, Binh Thanh district, HCMC no later than November 10, 2015.

The organising board will present one first, two second, three third, and five consolation prizes worth nearly VND 30 million (US$ 1,330) in total to winners.
