The decoration was in recognition of Lee Sang Mu’s significant contributions to developing agriculture and rural areas in Vietnam as well as enhancing the friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, the VUFO Chairman said.
As President of the Global Agriculture Policy Institute and the Asia-Pacific Agriculture Policy Forum, Lee Sang Mu has arranged for hundreds of Vietnamese managers in the agricultural sector to study rural development in the RoK, and provided financial support to help the country carry out a number of rural development projects following the RoK’s model.
Appointed President and Director General of the KRC in September 2013, Lee Sang Mu decided to open a KRC representative office in Hanoi, aiming to enhance co-operation with Vietnam through supplying flood-warning equipment. He also worked closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and rural Development in implementing RoK’s official development assistance projects in central Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces.
