On January 6, digital travel platform Agoda announced that Sa Pa was Asia’s fastest-growing destination in 2025, reflecting the rising level of interest among international visitors in this culturally rich highland town of Viet Nam.

Blessed with spectacular natural scenery, diverse ethnic cultures and lively highland markets, Sa Pa continues to appeal to travellers in search of genuine and profound experiences, offering a clear contrast to the dynamic rhythm in large urban centres.

Based on Agoda’s booking data comparing the period from January to November 2025 with the same period in 2024, Sa Pa climbed 15 places in the ranking of Asia’s top 100 destinations, becoming the fastest-growing destination in the region.

Following the “misty mountain town” were Okayama (Japan), Bandung (Indonesia), Matsuyama (Japan) and Takamatsu (Japan). These five destinations stood out as leaders in terms of growth in interest from international travellers.

In the early months of the year, Sa Pa often “scores points” with visitors thanks to its pleasantly cool highland climate, combined with gentle flower seasons that add colour to the majestic mountain landscapes. Beyond its scenery, Sa Pa also attracts visitors with a range of distinctive experiences, from Ta Van hamlet, with its peaceful valley shrouded in light mist, to the bustling Bac Ha market, where ethnic minority communities gather to meet, trade, and connect.

Travellers can also explore the 2 km-long Muong Hoa train route that crosses the valley of the same name, offering a broad and panoramic view of the entire area. Particularly, the period from February to May is an ideal time to visit Sa Pa. Spring blossoms bloom throughout the mountain town, making it a perfect choice for early-year excursions and Lunar New Year holidays.

Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Viet Nam, said that Sa Pa boasts impressive natural scenery and offers relaxing resort experiences amid the fresh, cool highland air, making it ideal for sightseeing and outdoor exploration activities.

“Becoming Asia’s fastest-growing destination is a noteworthy signal, demonstrating that Sa Pa continues to grow strongly and is increasingly loved by international travellers,” the Country Director of Agoda Viet Nam shared.
