Editor-in-chief of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper (SGGP), Nguyen Tan Phong said that over the past 40 years, generations of SGGP newspaper have always stayed true to their principle, working as the organ of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the forum of the people.
Ho Chi Minh City's authorities and people are proud that SGGP is an astute newspaper that is modern in its outlook but not monotonous, said Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong.
SGGP is also one of few newspapers operating effectively with nine publications, he added.
In addition, the newspaper has made significant contributions to the society through the organisation and implementation of many significant and pervasive programmes attracting much attention from the community including the Truong Son Sentiments programme, Ton Duc Thang Awards, Vo Truong Toan Awards, Nguyen Van Huong scholarship fund, and the Golden Ball Awards, among others.
Phong asked SGGP to take the lead in disseminating information on the stance and policy of the Party and State and accurately and vividly convey to readers issues of concern.
