PM urges Bac Lieu to become tourism centre of Mekong Delta

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked the southern province of Bac Lieu to develop tourism into a key economic sector and become a tourism centre of the Mekong Delta.

He made the request at a meeting with the leaders of Bac Lieu province on January 12.

The PM noted that the province needs to build a vibrant tourism ecosystem, while tapping into its potential in renewable energy to harness wind and solar power.

The government leader also called on Bac Lieu to continue determining shrimp farming as one of its strengths and aim to meet the export revenue target of US$1 billion in the earliest time.

Meanwhile, Bac Lieu needs to enhance its links with Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces in the Mekong Delta.

During the meeting with the provincial leaders, PM Phuc also underlined the importance of the Bac Lieu LNG power plant and agreed to include the project in the Vietnam Power Development Plan VII.
