Tien Nhat made history as the first Vietnamese fencer to win an official ticket to the world’s most prestigious sporting event after finishing second in the men’s epee event at the Asian zone Olympic qualifiers in Japan last April.
The 22-year-old from Ho Chi Minh City, along with other 17 athletes, will represent the country in 11 sports, including gymnastics, track and field, shooting, judo, weightlifting, rowing, badminton, taekwondo, fencing, wrestling and swimming.
