Nearly 6,000 runners join VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020

Nearly 6,000 runners participated in the VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020 on October 18.

Of which, more than 3,000 participants joined the race held around Hoan Kiem Lake and other streets in Hanoi while about 2,500 others competed at mini race spots throughout the country as well as in ASEAN and some other countries such as the US, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Brazil.

The race included four categories, 42km full marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km and 5km runs.

Under the slogan 'Meet sunrise - Welcome to New Normal', the event was the first large-scale community activity to mark a new period, a 'new normal' life after the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam.

It also aimed to promote an image of Vietnam as a safe country which is willing to open its door to welcome international friends and further integrate into the world.

Trinh Quoc Luong and Pham Thi Hong Le came first in the men’s and women’s marathon events, respectively, while Nguyen Dang Dong and Nguyen Thi Oanh were announced as respective winners in the men's and women's 21-kilometre events.
