Covering 15 hectares in Cam mountain, Tam Phu commune the statue was constructed seven years ago, being adapted from Mother Nguyen Thi Thu (1904 -2010) from Dien Thang commune, Dien Ban district in Quang Nam province, whose 11 descendants are war martyrs.

It was built at a total cost of over VND 410 billion (US$19 million) contributed by local authorities and beneficiaries from inside and outside the country.

The construction houses inside a museum honouring the lives and contributions of 50,000 Vietnamese heroic mothers nationwide.

In front of the statue are eight pillars carved with images of Vietnamese mothers from the north, central region and the south, and young female volunteers who devoted their youth to the country.

The granite statue, adapted from a sketch by painter Dinh Gia Thang and executed by architect Nguyen Luan, was built to pay tribute to Vietnamese heroic mothers’ contributions to the nation.
