On June 11, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Vu Ho and officials from the Embassy held a working session with a delegation from Gia Lai Province led by Party Central Committee Member and Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan during the delegation’s visit and working trip to the RoK.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on Gia Lai Province’s socio-economic development following the restructuring of its new administrative unit, as well as its potential and strategic directions for attracting investment, promoting trade, tourism, labour cooperation, education and training, and local-level cooperation with Korean partners.

Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan stated that Gia Lai is entering a new phase of development, characterised by a broader development space and greater opportunities for cooperation, particularly in processing industries, high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, logistics, smart urban development, the marine economy, eco-cultural tourism and human resource development.

Chairman Pham Anh Tuan highly appreciated the role of the Embassy of Viet Nam in RoK as a bridge in promoting cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Korean partners. He also requested the Embassy’s continued support in connecting the province with major corporations, business associations, investment promotion agencies, universities, tourism organisations and Korean localities seeking substantive cooperation with Gia Lai.

Ambassador Vu Ho welcomed the working visit of the Gia Lai delegation, noting that it was a meaningful activity at a time when the Viet Nam–RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership continues to develop strongly, particularly in the fields of economics, investment, technology, labour and people-to-people exchanges.

Ambassador Vu Ho emphasised that Gia Lai enjoys numerous unique advantages, with strong potential in agriculture, energy and tourism, while also possessing favourable conditions for expanding supply-chain connectivity and attracting Korean enterprises to participate in projects with high added value.

On behalf of the Embassy, Ambassador Vu Ho affirmed that it would accompany Gia Lai in promoting its strengths, introducing investment opportunities, facilitating connections with suitable partners and advancing focused and targeted investment promotion activities in the Republic of Korea.

The Ambassador also suggested that the province prepare a list of priority projects and concise information in Korean and English regarding its investment environment, incentive policies, land resources, infrastructure, human resources and sectors seeking cooperation, in order to improve the effectiveness of engagement with Korean partners.

In addition, Ambassador Vu Ho proposed several practical measures to enhance the quality of cooperation between Viet Nam in general, and Gia Lai in particular, and partners in the RoK.

The two sides agreed to maintain close coordination in the coming period, initially focusing on connecting Gia Lai with Korean enterprises in sectors aligned with the province’s development priorities, promoting local-level cooperation, strengthening people-to-people exchanges, enhancing tourism promotion and supporting people from Gia Lai who are studying, working and living in RoK.

The meeting was conducted in an open and constructive atmosphere, reflecting Gia Lai Province’s determination to proactively pursue international integration and mobilise external resources for development, while also reaffirming the important role of the Embassy of Viet Nam in RoK in helping Vietnamese localities expand cooperation with Korean partners in an effective and sustainable manner.
