The teams will compete in a double round robin tournament, both at home and away, to decide the final champions and recipients of a cash prize of VND3 billion (US$144,000). The tournament runners-up will pocket VND1.5 billion (US$72,000), and the third place team will receive half that amount.
The 2012 Super League champions will also secure a place in the National Football Super Cup 2012 against the national cup winners, and represent Vietnam at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Clubs Championship to take place in 2013.
