General Secretary of the Communist Party of Switzerland (CPS) Massimiliano Ay has expressed his confidence that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) will be a success, enabling the CPV to fulfil its leadership and pioneering role in the development and progress of Viet Nam.
The Swiss party leader told the Viet Nam News Agency that since its founding, the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam has modernised the country and improved people’s living standards, particularly through the Doi moi (Renewal) process, which has strongly promoted the creative application of Marxism–Leninism in recent decades. All of these achievements have been realised while safeguarding national sovereignty, an especially crucial factor in the current historical context, he noted.
Ay stressed that the 14th Party Congress is taking place at a time when the world is witnessing growing instability, yet the lessons drawn from Viet Nam’s struggle for independence and development remain a precious gem, both symbolically and in terms of revolutionary experience.
He also expressed his belief that the discussions at the 14th Party Congress will focus on advancing the development of a modern socialist society. According to him, strengthening national security is now essential to consolidating internal strength, both politically and economically. From this perspective, the Swiss Communist Party highly values Viet Nam’s foreign policy, considering it a source of inspiration for efforts to safeguard Switzerland’s own neutrality.
The General Secretary Massimiliano conveyed his best wishes for the successful organisation of the CPV’s 14th National Congress and for it to achieve significant outcomes.
