Farmers in Can Tho city are increasingly expected to do more than simply produce large volumes of agricultural goods. They must also know how to market their products, build brands, apply technology, and generate greater value from every unit of land. The shift from “agricultural production” to an “agricultural economy” is becoming an inevitable path on the journey towards greater efficiency.

GDP in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector grew by 4.02% in the first nine months of 2026 while export turnover was estimated at 56.3 billion USD, up 7.8% year on year. Achieving the growth target of 4% and annual export turnover of at least 74 billion USD will require greater efforts in production, supply management and market retention in the final months of the year.

Production chain linkages associated with product consumption are becoming an inevitable trend in agricultural production, helping to form large-scale production, promote the application of science and technology to increase productivity, enhance the value of agricultural products and raise people’s incomes.

Developing large-scale farming zones and ramping up the deployment of machinery and technological equipment in cultivation and harvesting are becoming priorities for many farmers and cooperatives in Nghe An Province. This approach is directly combating the growing labour shortage, shorten production time, and improve agricultural efficiency.
