In August 2025, agricultural activities focused on planting and caring for seasonal rice, harvesting the summer-autumn crop, and sowing autumn-winter rice in the Mekong Delta. Poultry farming developed steadily, while pig farming continued to face difficulties due to the complicated spread of African swine fever. Forestry production mainly concentrated on afforestation and planned timber exploitation. Aquaculture maintained stability, with an increasing number of farms applying high technology and developing super-intensive and intensive farming models that have brought high economic efficiency. However, unfavourable weather has affected marine fishing activities.

The regular socio-economic report for August and the first eight months of 2025, released on September 6, showed that as of August 20, 2025, the country had planted 1,899.4 thousand hectares of summer-autumn rice, down 8.7 thousand hectares compared to the same period in 2024; 1,375.6 thousand hectares of seasonal rice, down 6.4 thousand hectares year on year; and in the Mekong Delta, 449.3 thousand hectares of autumn-winter rice, equivalent to 96.4% of the same period in 2024.

Buffalo and cattle farming continued to decline, mainly due to shrinking grazing areas and low economic efficiency. Pig farming faced difficulties due to the complicated developments of African swine fever. As of the end of August, the total pig herd nationwide was estimated to have increased by 0.5% compared to the same time in 2024; the poultry flock rose by 3.6%; the cattle herd fell by 0.9%; and the buffalo herd decreased by 3.7%.

In forestry, the area of newly concentrated planted forests nationwide in August was estimated at 22.4 thousand hectares, up 5.9% compared to the same period in 2024; the number of scattered forestry trees planted reached 6.5 million, up 6.8%; timber exploitation output reached 2,284.8 thousand m³, up 6.6%; while forest area damaged stood at 31.5 hectares, down 35.0%. Overall, in the first eight months of 2025, the area of newly concentrated planted forests was estimated at 186.8 thousand hectares, up 13.9% year on year.

Aquatic product output in August was estimated at 916.4 thousand tonnes, up 2.5% compared to the same period in 2024. For the first eight months of 2025, aquatic output was estimated at 6,416.4 thousand tonnes, up 3% year on year.
