Viet Nam: From the aspiration for independence to the aspiration for a robust and prosperous nation
In August 1945, the Vietnamese people rose up to secure the right to self-determination, driven by two sacred values: independence and freedom. Eighty-one years later, following 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal), Viet Nam has traversed a protracted journey, from a centrally planned and subsidised economy to the aspiration of building a strong and prosperous nation.
