Welcoming the delegation, Son highlighted the visit as an important opportunity for the two localities to increase exchanges and identify cooperation directions, thus opening up new prospects for economic, trade, tourism, and socio-cultural development.
Introducing Tay Ninh’s potential and advantages, he noted that the province, following its administrative merger, is capitalising on its geo-economic strengths and strategic location along the East – West Economic Corridor, bordering Ho Chi Minh City — Viet Nam’s most dynamic economic hub. Tay Ninh serves as a key gateway connecting the Southeastern region with the Mekong Delta and also plays an important role in international trade through the Moc Bai and Xa Mat border gates.
The province is currently focusing on attracting investment to the processing industry, renewable energy, logistics infrastructure, high-tech agriculture, and eco-tourism. It is also home to many renowned destinations such as Ba Den Mountain and Dau Tieng Lake, along with a diverse system of cultural and historical sites that draw both domestic and international visitors, he said.
Expressing his impression at Tay Ninh’s dynamic development, Wang emphasised that Huaibei and Tay Ninh share many similarities in geographical locations and development orientations, which provide a solid foundation for expanding comprehensive cooperation in economic, trade, tourism, educational, and cultural fields.
He proposed that the two sides step up exchanges of delegations and enterprises to share management experience, promote investment, and expand trade ties, particularly in agricultural and processed products, thereby enabling each locality’s signature products to enter the other’s market.
Located in the north of Anhui province, Huaibei covers 2,741 square kilometres with a population of nearly 1.93 million. The city boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, and is home to landmarks such as the Grand Canal Liusi section and the Huaihai Campaign Command Site, as well as many prominent historical figures. Once a major coal energy centre, Huaibei is now transforming into a modern hub with high-tech industrial parks, advanced materials, machinery manufacturing, and green energy. In 2024, its GDP reached 140.59 billion RMB (19.76 billion USD), up 4%, reinforcing its status as a green, modern, and liveable city that is expanding international cooperation — including its friendship ties with Tay Ninh.
The visit reflected the goodwill, trust, and desire for deepened cooperation from the Huaibei municipal People’s Government towards Tay Ninh. It also served as a practical step to further strengthen the Viet Nam – China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, build a community of shared future between the two countries, and foster effective and sustainable cooperation between Tay Ninh and Huaibei in the years to come.
