This proposal was made by TELESUR President Patricia Villegas during a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My on July 3, as he visited and worked with the network’s leadership.

During the meeting, President Patricia Villegas affirmed that throughout its formation and development, TELESUR has always regarded reporting on Viet Nam as one of its top priorities, particularly stories about the country, its people, its ideals, and the revolutionary legacy of President Ho Chi Minh.

Building on that foundation, TELESUR wishes to continue telling the story of Viet Nam’s achievements in national construction and defence, especially its burning aspiration for development in the “era of national rise” launched and led by Party General Secretary To Lam through a comprehensive and profound national action agenda.

President Villegas expressed a strong desire to soon establish partnerships with Vietnamese media agencies such as the Viet Nam News Agency and Viet Nam Television. Such cooperation would enable TELESUR to broadcast reliable, authentic information about Viet Nam’s renewal process and its new era of development.

Looking ahead, TELESUR plans to feature major events in Viet Nam, including the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, as well as key resolutions and strategic decisions to be introduced at the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam in early 2026.

Ambassador Vu Trung My gave sincere thanks to President Patricia Villegas and the TELESUR leaders for their sincere affection for the Vietnamese Party, State, and people. He praised TELESUR’s contributions to promoting a positive image of Viet Nam to international audiences, especially during this pivotal period of transformation.

He also expressed admiration for the fact that TELESUR was among the first international news outlets to report on Viet Nam’s historic move on July 1 to implement the two-tier local government model and reorganise its administrative boundaries toward greater efficiency and effectiveness.

Ambassador Vu Trung My pledged to continue serving as a bridge to strengthen cooperation between TELESUR and Vietnamese media agencies such as the Viet Nam News Agency and Viet Nam Television in the near future.

Ambassador Vu Trung My expressed his confidence that effective cooperation between TELESUR and Vietnamese revolutionary press would significantly bolster external communication efforts. It would help promote the image of Viet Nam as a peace-loving nation that values friendship, cooperation, and development as well as an honest partner and responsible member of the international community. At the same time, this partnership would offer Vietnamese audiences deeper insight into Latin America, which is rich in identity, dynamism, and cooperation potential.

"From Caracas, the city echoing with the revolutionary spirit of Latin America, the message of Viet Nam–Venezuela friendship is once again amplified through sincere dialogue and a shared belief in the future of regional and global media integration, for truth, for the people, and for a more pluralistic and humane world”, Ambassador Vu Trung My emphasised.

Founded in July 2005 in Caracas, TELESUR was the brainchild of Cuban leader Fidel Castro and Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez. With the mission of delivering an objective Latin American perspective on regional and global affairs, TELESUR has grown into one of the leading television networks in Latin America and continues to expand its global reach.

More than just a television station, TELESUR today is a comprehensive multimedia platform operating in both Spanish and English. It encompasses a website, social media channels, and a wide range of content formats such as text, video and audio, and broadcasts in over 130 countries worldwide.
