The event saw the presence of Politburo member Le Thanh Hai, who is assigned to steer the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee pending the 12th National Party Congress in early 2016.
Thanh Nien Newspaper, a forum of the Vietnam Youth Union, published its first issue on January 3, 1986 with one issue per week. In 2002, it officially became a daily newspaper with seven issues per week.
Over the past 30 years, Thanh Nien Newspaper has become one of the most prestigious newspapers with a wide range of issues in Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Editor-In-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper Nguyen Quang Thong emphasised that the newspaper has rapidly provided accurate information on the current situation of the country and the world, particularly social criticism and issues related to welfare of the people.
The achievements that the newspaper has gained over the past 30 years have significantly contributed to the cause of national construction and defence.
In the evening of the same day, Thanh Nien Newspaper held a special arts programme at the Hoa Binh Theatre to celebrateof its 30 years of formation and development. The programme also raised money to support poor students in the City.
On the occasion, the newspaper’s new office with modern equipment was inaugurated in Nguyen Dinh Chieu street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
