Tran Duc Thang, Politburo Member and Secretary of the Ha Noi City Party Committee, attended the ceremony.
In a solemn atmosphere, the programme commenced with a flower and incense offering ceremony at the central memorial monument of Mai Dich Cemetery. All delegates, relatives of martyrs, policy beneficiary families, and thousands of Ha Noi youth union members observed a minute of silence, conveying their boundless gratitude to the generations of ancestors who sacrificed their lives and blood for independence and freedom.
At the ceremony, the organising committee bestowed 130 restored portraits and 130 gifts upon representatives of the families and relatives of fallen soldiers. This activity is part of the “Reconstruction of Portraits of Fallen Soldiers” project executed by the Ha Noi City Youth Union in recent years.
In 2026, a total of 210 portraits of fallen soldiers have been reconstructed using modern technology and presented, along with many valuable gifts, to the families and relatives of fallen soldiers in the capital city.
On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the Ha Noi City Youth Union has also executed numerous initiatives to convey gratitude, such as visiting and bestowing gifts upon Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, policy beneficiaries, and people with meritorious services; organising “Meals of Gratitude”; and providing free medical examinations, health consultations, and medicine.
