The blend of camaraderie and human kindness in labour and life has created the unique identity of the Army Trade Union – a solid spiritual support for the soldiers and workers.
During the 2023-2025 period, the Army Trade Union clearly demonstrated its role as a dedicated companion and a responsible bridge between the Party committee, commanders, and workers.
According to Colonel Nguyen Van De, Head of the National Defence Trade Union, in recent years, the workers movement throughout the army has faced many great pressures: the fluctuating global situation, the need for organisational streamlining, the enormous workload, and increasingly stringent deadlines.
However, with the unwavering support of the trade union, the workers persevered, staying close to their machines, production lines, and construction sites, successfully completing their tasks and ensuring absolute safety.
Many units maintained stable productivity, even increasing it by 5 to 7%. These are not just figures with purely economic significance, but also a measure of trust and solidarity.
A prominent highlight is the creative labour movement, which has become substantial with nearly 21,000 initiatives, generating nearly 1 trillion VND in benefits. In the context of fluctuating defence economic orders, the greatest highlight remains the will and solidarity of the defence workers and employees, and can also be considered a test and an opportunity for the Defence Trade Union to affirm its capabilities.
In addition to focusing on promoting production and launching and implementing emulation movements, the Army Trade Union pays great attention to the well-being of its members.
The “Trade Union Shelter, Comradeship and Solidarity” programme has become a profound humanitarian mark, reaching out to the most disadvantaged individuals. Each house provided is not only a shelter from the rain and sun, but also a source of spiritual support, instilling confidence in workers to overcome hardships and continue contributing.
The Army Trade Union also actively fulfils its responsibilities to the community, spending over 24.5 billion VND on humanitarian and charitable activities, disaster relief, and contributing to building a strong foundation of public support.
In just three years, nearly 100 houses with a total value of nearly 6 billion VND have been handed over, clearly demonstrating sharing and social responsibility. Along with that, welfare programmes such as “Tet Reunion,” “Workers’ Month,” “Trade Union Meal,” capital assistance funds, and recreational trips have supported tens of thousands of people with a total expenditure of over 330 billion VND.
That timely support fostered trust and created harmonious, stable, and progressive labour relations. The Army Trade Union also actively fulfilled its responsibilities to the community, spending over 24.5 billion VND on humanitarian and charitable activities, disaster relief, and contributing to building a strong foundation of public support.
These overall achievements were built upon exemplary models at the grassroots level. At Factory Z131, Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong Van, Deputy Director and Chairwoman of the factory’s Trade Union, shared: “We always consider the workers as the central focus and the most valuable resource.
The emulation movement is not just on paper but transforms into tangible results, income, and pride for each union member. With that spirit, the workforce has implemented 26 projects with a total budget of 123.7 billion VND.”
The initiative-building movement has boomed, with nearly 1,500 initiatives implemented, generating an estimated profit of 11 billion VND. Five outstanding union members of the factory were honoured with the Creative Labour Award by the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour.
Meanwhile, the Z121 Factory Trade Union affirmed its pioneering position in fulfilling the dual mission of ensuring both national defence products and economic production.
Entering a new term, Z121 not only aims for revenue but also focuses on building its workforce, training a new generation of technology soldiers – skilled workers who master Industry 4.0 technology and are ready to flexibly switch between defence and economic production lines.
The action slogan “Loyalty, courage - Innovation, creativity - Dedication, compassion, worthy of being called Ho Chi Minh’s soldiers,” set forth by the 11th Congress of the Army Trade Union, is the culmination of the core values that every trade union member in the army strives for.
In this, innovation and creativity are key operational methods, listening to the grassroots, leveraging collective intelligence, and mastering science and technology in the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution. Alongside this, dedication and compassion represent the depth of humanism, requiring each trade union official to work with heart, considering the concerns of workers as their own.
Entering a new stage of development, the Army Trade Union faces the need for strong innovation to adapt to profound changes in the army’s organisation, the remarkable development of science and technology, the trend of digital transformation, and the challenges from the plot to “depoliticise the army.”
Based on practical lessons, the military trade union organisation has identified a specialized direction, closely adhering to the unit's political tasks and the sustainable development of the enterprise.
The goal is to build a team of cadres and union members who are highly capable, intelligent, dedicated, possess strong professional skills, master high technology, and dare to innovate.
Each year, each grassroots trade union must have initiatives, projects, or works that are effectively applied in practice. The Creative Labour Award in the Military Trade Union will continue to be an intellectual platform to discover and honour exemplary individuals.
At the same time, all emulation movements must be closely linked to the lives, work, and legitimate rights of each union member, so that each member is not only a subject of the movement but also receives a fair share of the fruits of their labour.
