Thua Thien Hue: Statue of celebrated musician Trinh Cong Son unveiled on bank of Huong River

The People’s Committee of Hue City held a ceremony on February 28 to inaugurate a statue of celebrated musician Trinh Cong Son (1939-2001) at the park named after him on the bank of Huong River.

The bronze statue, carved by sculptor Truong Dinh Que, measures 1.7m tall and 1.6m wide. Once owned by Le Hung Manh, the statue was gifted by Manh to the Hue City authorities on the occasion of the 85th birth anniversary of musician Trinh Cong Son.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Truong Dinh Hanh said that the installation of the statue aims to honour the contributions of Trinh Cong Son, a talented son of Hue City, to the development of Vietnam and especially Hue.

He expressed his hope that the place will become a venue for those who loves musical and art works of Trinh Cong Son, and a highlight of Hue City tourism in general.

Born in Hue in 1939, Trinh Cong Son was a talented composer, musician, songwriter, painter and poet. His songs are distinguished by their profound melodies and lyrics conveying his meditations on life.

He was also appreciated for anti-war music collections, including Ca Khuc Da Vang (Yellow Skin Song), Kinh Viet Nam (Vietnamese Prayer), and Ta Phai Thay Mat Troi (We Must See The Sunlight).
