Train route launched to promote tourism connectivity in central region

A train route named ‘Connecting Heritages in Central Region’, linking Hue City in the central province of Thua Thien - Hue and nearby Da Nang City, has recently been launched by the Vietnam Railways Corporation.

The train includes five modern seating carriages and one carriage hosting community activities, where passengers can enjoy arts, culinary, and shopping activities.

During the three-hour train journey, passengers can admire the magnificent natural beauty along Hai Van Pass, dubbed Vietnam’s most marvellous wonder, before reaching Da Nang, which boasts one of the six most beautiful beaches on the planet.

On the way back, from Da Nang to Hue, they can set foot in the former capital of Hue, which is hailed as the land of heritage sites.

Notably, those who take trips departing Hue for Da Nang and vice versa in the morning or the afternoon can enjoy the spectacular sunrise or sunset scenes on Lang Co Bay, one of the most beautiful bays in the world.

According to the Vietnam Railways Corporation, the Hue – Da Nang section includes 12 stations with a length of 102 km, with three located on steep mountain passes.

After arriving at Hue or Da Nang station, visitors can easily access public bicycle rental sites, which are located near the stations and use QR codes.

VIP waiting rooms are also arranged at the Da Nang and Hue stations to serve passengers.

In the first phase, the route includes two pairs of trains labelled HD 1 and HD3, which depart from Hue City at 7:45 and 14:25 and depart from Da Nang City at 10:35 and 17:40, respectively.

Trains labelled HD 2 and HD 4 depart from Da Nang station at 7:50 and 15:00 and arrive at Hue station at 11:05 and 17:45, respectively.

During the opening month of the service, Vietnam Railways Corporation offers passengers promotional ticket prices of 150,000 per ticket and discounts from 10 to 50% for passengers who are policy beneficiaries.

The launch of the train route not only contributes to facilitating the travel demand between Hue and Da Nang but also provides an exciting travel experience for visitors to the two cities.

On the occasion, Thua Thien Hue provincial authorities announced a ticket discount programme for organisations and individuals when visiting Hue City.

Speaking at the launch ceremony on March 26, General Director of the Vietnam Railways Corporation Dang Sy Manh said the route was put into operation on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue Province and Da Nang City (March 1975 – 2024).

The launch of the train route not only contributes to facilitating the travel demand between Hue and Da Nang but also provides an exciting travel experience for visitors to the two cities.

The service is also among the efforts by the two localities to enhance their tourism connectivity. It is a new product that combines transportation and tourism services, promising new and interesting experiences of history, culture, and heritage for passengers.

The train will be equipped with Wi-Fi this April to ensure better experiences for passengers.

Participants at the ceremony were invited to taste indigenous dishes and enjoy cultural and arts performances.
