These figures were revealed by the HCM City Tourism Department in a conference held on March 25 to announce its tourism activities in the first quarter.
International visitor arrivals to the southern city reached an estimated 1.63 million, a year-on-year rise of 18,2% and 19.2% of the year’s plan, while domestic visitors numbered over 8.57 million, a year-on-year rise of 6.3% and 19.1% of the year’s plan.
Meanwhile, the municipal tourism sector generated more than 56.66 trillion VND during the period, a year-on-year rise of 26.7% and 21.8% of the year’s plan.
The municipal Department of Tourism reports that it has partnered with businesses, the Thu Duc City People's Committee, and various districts to enhance inter-district tourism offerings. Key initiatives include linked tourism products like “Go Mon” (Districts 12, Go Vap, Hoc Mon, and Cu Chi); “A Corner of Green Saigon” (Districts 4, 7, and Nha Be); and “Legendary Underground Bunkers” of the Saigon Special Forces (Districts 1, 3, and 10).
The move aims to further promote the city’s unique destinations and tourism products, highlight attractive tourism offerings, connect travel businesses to develop new routes and attractions, improve the quality of tourism services, and create diverse tourism programs for domestic and international visitors.
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975–2025), the municipal tourism sector has launched a social media campaign to announce the 2025 brand identity and communication message “Find Your Vibes,” featuring 50 graphic images of iconic landmarks and symbols representing key destinations in the southern hub.
For the development direction for waterway tourism, the Department of Tourism has surveyed river tourism routes connecting the city with other localities in in the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions. Following this survey, they have refined existing products to re-launch 14 waterway tourism routes in the Mekong Delta from HCM City, using tourist canoes and yachts.
