Addressing the meeting, Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuc Phan Ward, said that, to celebrate one of the country's most significant national holidays, create a highlight for visitors and stimulate tourism during the upcoming National Day holiday on September 2, the ward's People's Committee would organise a series of cultural and sporting activities from the evening of August 28 to the evening of September 1.
The highlight of the programme will be the release of 3,000 sky lanterns and the artistic performance entitled "Cao Bang Concert – A Thousand Years of Majestic Landscapes", which will take place on the evening of September 1 at Pac Bo Square, Km 5, Thuc Phan Ward.
A range of cultural and sporting activities showcasing the rich cultural identity of the country's ethnic communities will also be held, including the Hao Khi Song Bang artistic performance on the evening of August 28; traditional bamboo raft racing, chicken cage weaving competitions, and an exhibition space featuring One Commune One Product (OCOP) products, from August 29 to 31.
"With the aim of allowing visitors to experience and immerse themselves in the event, we will invite delegates and tourists to personally release the 3,000 sky lanterns and take part in the outdoor mega music festival 'Cao Bang Concert – A Thousand Years of Majestic Landscapes', featuring renowned artists. The programme will conclude with a high-altitude fireworks display for local residents and visitors," Nguyen Tuan Thanh said.
The organising committee stated that the total cost of staging the events is approximately 5 billion VND, with 100% of the funding sourced through social mobilisation. Honda Cao Bang Company Limited is the principal sponsor.
Speaking at the meeting, Nguyen Thi Lan, Chairwoman of the Cao Bang Tourism Association, highly commended the People's Committee of Thuc Phan Ward for its well-prepared plans to organise a meaningful series of activities celebrating National Day, while also stimulating tourism and attracting visitors.
She noted that events of such scale would help create a distinctive tourism highlight and further strengthen Cao Bang Province's position on both the domestic and international tourism map.
The People's Committee of Thuc Phan Ward said that the series of cultural and sporting activities celebrating National Day is intended to build on the success of the artistic programme "Touching the Flow of Peace" and the Night of Releasing 5,000 Floating Lanterns on the Bang Giang River, held on the evening of April 30 to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2026) and celebrate International Workers' Day (May 1). During that event, Thuc Phan Ward welcomed 57,000 visitors.
During the meeting, delegates also discussed contingency plans to accommodate visitors in eligible local households should the number of tourists exceed the capacity of hotels and guesthouses; measures to strengthen and expand promotional activities so that more visitors become aware of the event; and the need to recreate a traditional periodic market showcasing the distinctive cultural identity of the province's ethnic communities at the Kim Dong Pedestrian Street area in Thuc Phan Ward.
