The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong, as part of Singaporean Government leader’s official visit to Vietnam.
The agreement between the Vietnam Tourism Development Fund and Grab Vietnam will facilitate promoting Vietnam’s tourism image to domestic and international visitors. It will also contribute to accelerating digital transformation in the tourism sector, creating new drivers for Vietnam’s socio-economic growth.
Under the cooperation agreement, Grab will serve as a preferred partner for transportation and e-commerce, enhancing tourist experiences in Vietnam with seamless services, including transportation, delivery, food ordering, goods purchase, and cashless payments.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Director of the Vietnam Tourism Development Fund Hoang Thi Kim Anh, stated: “With the mission of effectively and sustainably promoting and supporting Vietnam’s tourism development, we hope this cooperation with Grab will leverage both parties' strengths to achieve our goal of making tourism a leading economic sector in Vietnam.”
For his part, Alejandro Osorio, Managing Director of Grab Vietnam, emphasized that tourism is one of the key contributors to Vietnam’s GDP and is expected to become a leading economic sector by 2030. By promtoing partnership with the Tourism Development Fund, Grab is honoured to contribute to this vision, utilising the company’s technological platform that has been an integral part of Vietnamese life for over a decade. He expressed his hope that the cooperation will create strong momentum to promote and accelerate Vietnam’s tourism industry in a sustainable manner, further supporting the country’s socio-economic development.
Within the framework of the five-year cooperation, the two sides will focus on leveraging technology to drive digital transformation in tourism marketing and communications; positioning Vietnam as a top global travel destination while stimulating domestic tourism demand. At the same time, the two sides are promoting Vietnam’s cultural heritage, tourism sites, and cuisine.
The Tourism Development Fund and Grab Vietnam are working with tour operators to introduce international travel packages on Grab’s platform towards enhancing tourist experiences in Vietnam; marketing tourism services across multiple provinces and cities, encouraging visitors to explore neighbouring destinations.
Both sides also cooperate to promote Vietnamese tourism and the Grab application through domestic and foreign media channels, enhancing public utilities to serve tourists and local people.
In addition to the above key focuses, the Tourism Development Support Fund and Grab Vietnam will also devote resources to enhancing the digitalisation of local tourism destinations through new utilities on the Grab platform.
