Venezuela holds grand ceremony marking the 136th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh

On the morning of May 15 (local time), in Caracas, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the city authorities and the Embassy of Viet Nam, solemnly held a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the 136th anniversary of his birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2026).

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela Jesús Faria expressed deep emotion at attending the ceremony commemorating the 136th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh; emphasising the special sentiments and profound admiration for him and for the indomitable fighting spirit of the Vietnamese people during the resistance wars against colonialism and imperialism for national independence.

President Ho Chi Minh, the immortal symbol of the national liberation movement of the 20th century, is not only the pride of the Vietnamese people, but also an endless source of inspiration for left-wing and progressive political parties, revolutionary movements and peoples in Latin America, including the United Socialist Party of Venezuela and the Venezuelan people.

Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela Jesús Faria said he had visited Viet Nam on many occasions and witnessed the country’s great and remarkable development achievements, which are vivid proof of the talented and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam guided by the thought of President Ho Chi Minh.

Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Andrea Corea affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh was the great leader of the Vietnamese Revolution, a leader who devoted his entire life to the cause of national liberation of the Vietnamese people, achieving glorious historic victories and contributing to the common struggle of peoples for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress.

Deputy Foreign Minister Andrea Corea expressed delight at the traditional friendship between Venezuela and Viet Nam, which has continuously been consolidated and strongly developed across many fields in recent times. The Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries continues to make positive progress based on political trust, effective cooperation and shared core values regarding the path of development for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My sincerely thanked the leaders of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, political parties, progressive movements, as well as the Government and people of Venezuela for their warm sentiments, solidarity and close ties with President Ho Chi Minh and Viet Nam.

On the same day, the Venezuelan press and mass media such as the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), National Television (VTV), TeleSUR, and major newspapers including Orinoco, Universal and Globovision widely and prominently covered the commemorative ceremony as well as the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, the national liberation hero and eminent cultural figure of Viet Nam and of all progressive and peace-loving peoples around the world.
