During the resistance war against US imperialism, Xuan Loc (including Xuan Loc District and Long Khanh City now) was regarded as the "steel gateway" built by the enemy to protect Saigon from afar.
Fifty years after liberation, from a land scarred by bomb craters and shell remnants, Xuan Loc has achieved remarkable progress, transforming its landscape. Notably, in 2014, Xuan Loc became the first district in the country to complete the new rural development programme. By 2024, Xuan Loc had achieved the advanced new rural standards.
The material and spiritual well-being of the people has significantly improved, with the poverty rate in the district now reduced to below 0.78%. Xuan Loc has been honoured with prestigious national titles, including Hero of the People's Armed Forces in 1999 and Labour Hero in the Doi Moi (Renewal) Period in 2011.
