The delegation visited and encouraged people affected by floods in Muong Chanh Commune, Mai Son District and Ban Lam Commune, Thuan Chau District.

Due to the impact of Storm No.2, many communes and villages in Son La Province were flooded. Flash floods and landslides killed 12 people and injured 7. The damage included 2,672 houses, with 29 schools affected. Floods swept away 15 suspension bridges, damaged 82 irrigation works and 130 landslides caused traffic jams, with total damage worth over 500 billion VND.

The VP asked Son La Province to continue to pay attention to and care for the lives of families affected by floods and support the livelihoods of affected households so that they can soon stabilise their lives and production.

On this occasion, VP Vo Thi Anh Xuan and the working delegation presented gifts to people in the flood-hit areas of Son La. The Sponsoring Council and the Vietnam Children's Fund donated 200 million VND to children affected by natural disasters in Son La Province and the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention donated 1,000 boxes of instant noodles.
