According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, fish output in the first nine months of 2026 reached 5.41 million tonnes, up 2.8%; shrimp output totalled nearly 1.38 million tonnes, up 7.1%; and other aquatic products amounted to 1.1 million tonnes, up 5.8%. Aquaculture remained the main driver of growth, particularly in the Mekong Delta, where shrimp and pangasius farming areas maintained stable production and stepped up the application of high technology.
To achieve the export target of around 12 billion USD in 2026, the fisheries sector needs to stabilise raw material supplies, strengthen links between farmers and processing enterprises, control costs, improve product quality and proactively adapt to market fluctuations.
