In her remarks, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang reaffirmed Viet Nam’s consistent policy of fostering multi-faceted cooperation with African countries at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
She praised the growing role and prestige of the African Union (AU) in the region and globally, expressing confidence that, with wise leadership and tireless efforts from African leaders and people—along with effective international support, including from Viet Nam—the vision of a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainably developed Africa would soon become a reality.

Deputy Minister Hang also highlighted the close, time-honoured friendship between the Vietnamese people and the peoples of African nations, forged during their common struggles for national independence and strengthened through decades of cooperation in national development.
She noted that beyond strong political and diplomatic ties, economic and trade relations between the two sides have been growing steadily, with governments, businesses and peoples increasingly interested in expanding collaboration for mutual development and prosperity.
On behalf of the Group of African Ambassadors in Viet Nam, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco Jamale Chouaibi expressed sincere appreciation to the Government and people of Viet Nam for their steadfast friendship and effective cooperation with African countries.

He underscored the significance of the year 2025, marking the 62nd anniversary of the founding of the Organisation of African Unity—now the African Union—a symbol of the continent’s unity and aspiration for comprehensive progress.
This year’s Africa Day theme, “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations” calls for greater international collaboration to address the lingering legacies of colonialism, slavery, racial discrimination and genocide. Ambassador Chouaibi stressed that reparations should not be limited to financial compensation but must also include land restitution, the return of cultural artifacts, and global financial system reform.
He noted that Africa is increasingly asserting its place in the global landscape, with abundant resources, a dynamic young population, and a rapidly expanding middle class. The implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which unites 1.3 billion people in a 3.4 trillion USD economic bloc, reflects the continent’s resolve to integrate and prosper.
Ambassador Chouaibi also appreciated Viet Nam’s active engagement with Africa, especially its status as an official observer of the African Union and its growing diplomatic and development cooperation with African partners.
He called for further efforts to unlock untapped potential in key sectors such as food security, healthcare, energy, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation.
