The event was co-organised by the National Innovation Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University (ANU), and the Viet Nam - Australia Scholars and Experts Association of Intellectuals (VASEA).
In his opening remarks, Vu Quoc Huy, Director of the National Innovation Centre, emphasised the strategic importance of agricultural restructuring driven by innovation. He noted that this approach is vital as Viet Nam implements its socio-economic development strategy for 2021–2030, with the ambition of becoming a high-income developed nation by 2045.
“Only through innovation and the application of advanced science and technology can Viet Nam’s agriculture achieve effective, sustainable growth and improve its competitiveness within the global value chain,” he stated.
Professor Janine O’Flynn, Director of the Crawford School of Public Policy at ANU, reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to supporting Viet Nam’s transformation journey.
“We are honoured to accompany Viet Nam, particularly in agriculture - a cornerstone sector entering a new phase of development. ANU remains committed to fostering sustainable development through knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and collaborative public policy research,” she said.
She expressed her hope that the Crawford School will serve as a “knowledge bridge” between Australia and Viet Nam, aimed at deepening mutual understanding, promoting shared values, and advancing regional development.
The conference featured thematic discussions where experts from ANU and Viet Nam exchanged insights on public investment efficiency in agriculture during the 2021–2025 period. Topics included strategies for restructuring agricultural investment in alignment with green transformation goals and strengthening resilience to climate change.
