Viet Nam promotes cooperation with Laos and Venezuela

A series of activities aimed at strengthening cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos, as well as Venezuela, have recently taken place.

Politburo Member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc chaired a meeting of the Viet Nam–Laos Cooperation Committee (under the Viet Nam–Laos Inter-Governmental Committee) in Ha Noi, on June 24 to review the implementation of tasks, plans, and cooperation programmes between the two countries during the first six months of 2026 and to discuss key priorities for the period ahead.

The permanent deputy prime minister instructed ministries, sectors, and local authorities to focus on effectively implementing the agreements, plans, and cooperation arrangements already reached by the two countries. Regarding large-scale investment projects undertaken by Vietnamese enterprises in Laos, he assigned specific tasks to relevant ministries and agencies to ensure their prompt implementation.

For new investment projects, the permanent deputy prime minister requested the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies to proactively engage with their Lao counterparts in selecting suitable projects as well as ensuring investment efficiency and the availability of resources. Concerning proposals put forward by Vietnamese businesses, he tasked the Ministry of Finance with consolidating recommendations and coordinating with relevant agencies to work with the Lao side in facilitating investment and business activities by Vietnamese enterprises.

* From June 23 to 24, Politburo Member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung paid an official visit to Venezuela. He conveyed the regards and best wishes of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, as well as other leaders of the Party and State of Viet Nam, to Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez and senior Venezuelan leaders. He also briefed them on the main outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress and several of Viet Nam’s recent achievements.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung noted that the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and Venezuela has continued to develop positively in recent years. He stressed that the visit reflects the determination and aspiration of the Vietnamese Party and State to further advance the strong bilateral relationship in the new phase.

The two sides agreed on a bilateral cooperation agenda for the 2026–2030 period and concurred on developing a Viet Nam–Venezuela action plan to ensure effective implementation and deliver tangible results, in preparation for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Viet Nam–Venezuela Comprehensive Partnership in 2027.
