They made the statement on August 28 during Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy’s reception for the Lao guest who came to the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with officials from the Lao Embassy, to extend congratulations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam’s cultural sector (August 28, 1945 –2025).

At the meeting, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh conveyed congratulations from the leadership of the Lao Ministry of Culture and Tourism to Nguyen Van Hung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam, together with all the staff and officials of the Ministry.

She affirmed that over the past 80 years, Viet Nam had achieved comprehensive accomplishments, with culture, sports, and tourism making important contributions to the country’s overall development.

The Ambassador highlighted the recent milestone of cooperation between the two ministries, which was the successful joint nomination of Hin Nam No National Park (Khammouane Province, Laos) for UNESCO recognition as a World Natural Heritage Site, together with Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park (Quang Binh, Viet Nam), becoming the first transboundary World Natural Heritage Site of the two countries. This, she said, was evidence of the close and profound coordination between the two nations. She expressed her hope that in the coming period, the two ministries would continue to cooperate in organising heritage promotion events to attract more international tourists to both Viet Nam and Laos.

Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm sentiments and congratulations from the Ambassador and Lao Embassy officials, especially on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam’s cultural sector.

She stressed that the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam always value the special, faithful, and enduring solidarity extended by the Party, State, and people of Laos during Viet Nam’s struggle for independence as well as in the cause of national construction and development.

In the fields of culture, sports, and tourism, the two sides have achieved many practical results. The Deputy Minister expressed thanks for the Lao country’s recognition of the “Truong Son Trail–Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos” as a national historic site of Laos on August 22. She emphasised that for important heritage such as Hin Nam No National Park and the Truong Son–Ho Chi Minh Trail, the two ministries needed to build effective action programmes for their preservation and long-term promotion.

Regarding the Laos–Viet Nam Friendship Park project in Vientiane, the Deputy Minister noted that under the close direction of the Government and with the attention of the two countries’ senior leaders, the project was being actively implemented and was expected to be completed and handed over to Laos in 2025. In the near future, Viet Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism would closely coordinate with the Lao Ministry of Culture and Tourism to organise Laos Cultural Week in Viet Nam in October in Ha Noi and Thanh Hoa.
