The event takes place on September 27–28 at central venues, attracting officials, artists, businesses and large numbers of the public.
The event was attended by Lim Byung Chul, Counsellor for Internal Affairs and Safety at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Viet Nam, and Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee.
According to the organisers, this cultural diplomacy activity aims to promote Viet Nam–Republic of Korea relations and affirm Hue’s position in culture and tourism.
In his opening speech, Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Hue’s Department of Culture and Sports, recalled more than 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, noting that political trust and cultural similarities form a foundation for cooperation enhancement. He expressed confidence that the event would help Hue residents gain deeper insights into Korean culture.
Kim Kyoung Cheol, Chief Representative of the ASEAN Office of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, described the event as “a bridge connecting the friendship between the peoples of the two nations”. He also expressed his hope that the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Viet Nam and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang would continue to provide support to help cooperation between local authorities of the two countries become an even stronger foundation.
Around 100 booths at 23–25 Le Loi Street, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Pedestrian Street and the Lim wooden bridge on the Perfume River showcased cuisine, Hanbok, Hue’s Ao dai, traditional folk games, handicrafts and OCOP products.
The opening art programme combined Hue court music (Nha nhac), Korean traditional music (Gugak), and K-pop and V-pop performances. Despite unfavourable weather, many performances still attracted enthusiastic audiences.
