Noi Bai Airport has made it to the list of the world’s top 25 low-cost carrier airport megahubs for the first time.

Specifically, Tan Son Nhat Airport ranked 19th, while Noi Bai placed 25th.

The rankings reflect the recovery and steady growth of Viet Nam’s aviation industry, particularly in the development of a diverse and cost-efficient route network that meets the rising travel demands from both domestic passengers and international visitors.

According to OAG, the presence of Viet Nam’s two airports on the LCC megahub list demonstrates their effectiveness in fulfilling the role as key regional transit hubs.

Flexible flight connectivity at the two economic centres of Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City not only facilitates passenger travel but also serves as a driving force for tourism development, trade expansion, and the attraction of foreign investment.

The report also highlights the leading role of domestic airlines in improving connectivity indicators.

At Tan Son Nhat Airport, Vietjet Air accounted for the largest share of operations, representing 33% of total flights, up from 21% a year earlier, helping to return the airport to the top 20.

At Noi Bai Airport, the carrier has also maintained its leading market share in the low-cost segment, operating 32% of total flights and making a significant contribution to the inclusion of the airport serving Ha Noi on the list for the first time.

In addition to international connectivity, Viet Nam’s domestic transport capacity continues to be underscored by the backbone Ha Noi-Ho Chi Minh City route.

According to OAG data, this route remains among the world’s busiest domestic routes in terms of seat capacity, ranking fourth globally in 2025 and seventh as of January 2026.
