Nearly 68,300 enterprises resume operations nationwide over past eight months

According to the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance, nearly 68,300 enterprises nationwide resumed operations — a decrease of 15.8% compared to the same period in 2025. This elevates the total number of newly established and resumed enterprises in the first eight months of 2026 to nearly 206,400, a 1.4% decline compared to the same period in 2025.

In August 2026, nearly 12,200 enterprises launched nationwide, with registered capital totalling nearly 189.4 trillion VND and a registered workforce of nearly 60,400. These figures represent a 14.4% decrease in the number of enterprises, a 13.9% increase in registered capital, and a 26.4% decrease in the workforce compared to July 2026.

Compared to the same period last year, this marks a 40.5% drop in the number of enterprises, a 41.9% decline in registered capital, and a 43.5% reduction in the workforce. The average registered capital per newly established enterprise in August stood at 15.6 billion VND, up 33.2% from the previous month but down 2.3% from the same period last year. Additionally, nearly 9,500 enterprises resumed operations, a decrease of 6.5% from the previous month and 23.8% from the same period in 2025.

Also in August, 5,322 enterprises registered for temporary suspension of business, a decrease of 39.0% from the previous month and 18.5% from the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, 7,566 enterprises suspended operations while awaiting dissolution procedures, and 9,631 enterprises completed dissolution procedures.

In the first eight months of 2026, Viet Nam recorded nearly 138,100 newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of nearly 1.71 quadrillion VND and a registered workforce of nearly 657,700; these figures represent a 7.7% increase in the number of enterprises and a 36.2% increase in registered capital, but a 15.4% decrease in the workforce compared to the same period last year.

The average registered capital per newly established enterprise during this period was 12.4 billion VND, up 26.4% year-on-year. The total registered capital injected into the economy in the first eight months of 2026 hit nearly 4.4 quadrillion VND, an increase of 5.7% compared to the same period in 2025.

Additionally, nearly 68,300 enterprises resumed operations (down 15.8% year-on-year), bringing the total number of newly established and returning enterprises to nearly 206,400 — a 1.4% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. On average, 25,800 enterprises launched or resumed operations each month.

By economic sector, the first eight months of 2026 recorded 1,448 newly established enterprises in the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sector (up 24.1% year-on-year) and nearly 34,100 enterprises in the industry and construction sector (up 19.8%). ...nearly 102,600 enterprises in the service sector, an increase of 4.1%.

In the first eight months of 2026, the number of enterprises temporarily suspending business operations surpassed 88,000, down 7.3% year-on-year; nearly 28,600 enterprises ceased operations while awaiting dissolution procedures, a decrease of 40.3%; and over 40,800 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, an increase of 125.5%. On average, 19,700 enterprises withdrew from the market monthly.
