Vietnam Airlines receives first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines officially received the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner VN-A861 at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on August 2.

With the plane, the Vietnam Airlines has become the first carrier in the Asia-Pacific to operate the all-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-900 XWB.

Vietnam Airlines will receive 18 more Boeing 787 and 14 Airbus A350-900 XWB from now until 2019, serving to improve its service quality meet the needs of all passengers.

As scheduled, Vietnam Airlines will put the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner into operation on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City domestic route from August 4 and between Vietnam and London, the UK from September, 2015.

The airline will receive the second Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on August 10.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is equipped with a business class cabin with seats that recline 180 degrees, dynamic LED lighting, larger windows and spacious stowage, as well as cleaner, healthier air, and lower cabins, all of which will subdue fatigue during long trips.

In addition, passengers will be offered a pilot Wi-Fi service on the Boeing 787-9.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is the latest version of the Boeing 787, and is more fuel-efficient and has a wider body.

On the occasion, Vietnam Airlines will offer gifts to passengers who travel on the first 14 flights of the Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

Vietnam Airline received the first Airbus A350-900 XWB on July 2.

The airline commenced a service upgrade program this summer aimed at achieving a 4-star Skytrax rating.
