The agreement was signed on December 16 by Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Bui Hong Linh and US Ambassador to Vietnam David Shear.
This is the first MoU concluded between the two countries that addresses the consequences of explosive remnants of war, which came shortly after Vietnam and the US established a comprehensive partnership last July.
The MoU aims to establish a long-term mechanism to strengthen humanitarian co-operation between the two sides on overcoming the consequences of explosive remnants in Vietnam through delegation exchange, financial support, training and other activities.
Deputy Minister Linh stated that the signing of the MoU not only lays the foundation for addressing war legacies, but also promotes further co-operation between the two countries.
For his part, US Ambassador David Shear hailed the signing as an important step towards building a better future for both countries.
