This event was part of the “Partnership to Act on Climate Change and Environmental Protection” (P2ACE) project, funded by ActionAid International in Vietnam. The initiative encourages the community, especially young people, to take green actions that reduce emissions and protect the future.

Walking is considered a simple yet effective solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

ActionAid International in Vietnam, the Vietnam Social Welfare Program and Project Support Fund, and the Vietnam National University of Forestry officially signed a cooperation agreement for 2025-2027 at the event. Under this agreement, the parties will collaborate on training, workshops, communication campaigns, scientific research, and capacity-building programs for youth and students on climate change adaptation, environmental protection, disaster risk reduction, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, the initiative will support youth-led projects related to forestry, silviculture, biodiversity, entrepreneurship, and forest carbon absorption.

On this occasion, delegations from ActionAid Sweden and ActionAid Bangladesh shared their experiences with environmental initiatives, encouraging young people to engage in green activities, thereby fostering deeper cooperation in environmental education and sustainable development.

Speaking at the event, Jennifer Vidmo, Secretary-General of ActionAid Sweden, expressed her honour in attending the meaningful "Walk for People and the Planet" event during her visit to Vietnam. As Secretary-General of ActionAid Sweden, she emphasised her commitment to strengthening partnerships and creating a fair and sustainable future for communities.

She was particularly impressed by the Vietnamese youth’s energy, enthusiasm, and creativity.

“The practical actions you are taking to raise awareness about climate change and promote the SDGs are not only commendable but also essential for societal progress. Through these efforts, you are helping to reduce waste and protect the environment, building a valuable legacy for future generations,” she added.
