The information was announced by Le Hoang Tai, deputy director of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) at a press briefing held in Hanoi, on August 25.
The annual trade fair is held alternatively between Vietnam’s Lao Cai Province and China’s Yunnan Province, according to an agreement between the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade and Yunnan authorities.
The fair is an important event to promote trade connectivity and stimulate business and investment. In particular, Yunnan province plays an important role in trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and China, as well as being a gateway for Vietnamese goods to penetrate deeper into the Chinese market.
Deputy Director of Lao Cai’s Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Huy Tuong said, that this year’s fair will return after three years of hiatus, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly 700 booths will be set up in an area of 2,000m2, including 200 booths from the Chinese side and 24 booths from other countries and territories, Tuong noted.
Diverse goods will be showcased such as agricultural, forestry and aquatic products, food, medicinal herbs, machinery and equipment, raw materials, chemicals, construction materials, electrical appliances, household appliances, consumer goods, furniture, and handicrafts.
The fair will also feature other activities, including a business matching between Chinese importers and Vietnamese enterprises, a conference on economic and trade cooperation between Lao Cai Province and Yunnan Province, a forum on investment attraction policies, logistics, and import and export activities between Vietnam and China, and field trips to some tourist attractions in Lao Cai Province.
