Vietnam got off to a good start, creating several chances, but failed to materialise anything and conceded a goal in the 13th minute after a well-orchestrated attack by the Dortmund players, with the final shot taken by Malen.
Despite falling behind, Coach Park Hang-seo’s men continued the match with confidence and equalised the score with a goal by Nguyen Tien Linh in the 36th minute.
In the second half, Dortmund made nine substitutions while the Vietnamese side was also supplemented with Van Thanh, Viet Anh and Van Toan, helping the hosts to gradually take control of the game.
Towards the end of the friendly, Van Thanh was fouled in the penalty area and Vietnam were awarded a penalty kick, which was converted into a goal by Pham Tuan Hai in the 90th minute, helping Vietnam claim a 2-1 win over the German club.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Park stated that the victory is very important as it boosts the confidence of the Vietnamese team, and shared that he was satisfied with the preparations for the match and its result.
