A Law on Border Defence, which comes into effect from January 2022, lays the legal foundation for increasing the efficiency of protecting the nation’s sovereign territory and national border in the new context.
Under the 2020 Law on Residence, effective from July next year, the use of household registration books will be abolished and residence will be managed with the help of information technology by using personal identity numbers.
The new law also removes some regulations on permanent residency in centrally-governed cities to ensure freedom of residence for all citizens as stipulated by the 2013 Constitution.
The Law on International Agreements, also effective from July next year, will expand the scope on which entities are allowed to sign international agreements, while the Law on Fines for Administrative Offences, effective from January 2022, will increase maximum fines in ten areas.
The revised Law on HIV/AIDS Prevention, which comes into effect from July next year, stipulates that people with HIV must inform their spouses and those they are going to marry of their status to prevent transmission of the disease.
The Law on Vietnamese Guest Workers, effective from January 2022, will better protect the interests of Vietnamese workers working abroad, while the Law on Environmental Protection, with the same effective date, will increase the role of local communities in environmental protection activities.
