The deputy prime minister commended the Mie authorities for their efforts in fostering cooperation with Viet Nam in recent years.
Informing the governor about Viet Nam’s goal to train 50,000–100,000 engineers in semiconductors and artificial intelligence, Deputy PM Dung expressed hope that Mie would promote cooperation through universities and enterprises between the two countries, thereby developing high-quality human resources aligned with the needs of Mie-based businesses and Viet Nam.
Governor Ichimi Katsuyuki affirmed his desire to strengthen cooperation between Mie Prefecture and Viet Nam in areas such as investment and human resource training. He noted that the Vietnamese community is the largest foreign community in Mie and has become an important part of the local society, making active contributions to the prefecture's development.
Earlier, on May 28, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and the high-ranking government delegation visited Hokkaido Prefecture and met with Governor Suzuki Naomichi.
The Deputy PM stressed that Viet Nam and Japan, including Hokkaido, should work more closely together to promote effective cooperation for mutual benefit.
He urged the governor to continue facilitating delegation exchanges and to step up cooperation with Vietnamese localities. He also encouraged Hokkaido businesses to invest further in Viet Nam in sectors in which the prefecture has strengths, such as high technology, agriculture, and seafood processing.
Governor Suzuki Naomichi affirmed that Hokkaido will further strengthen ties with Vietnamese localities, support the Vietnamese community in the prefecture, and foster people-to-people links through cultural exchange activities.
