The memorial service was attended by representatives of Vietnamese associations and organisations in Kansai; representatives of Japan-Viet Nam friendship associations, organisations, Japanese friends who love Viet Nam; and a large number of overseas Vietnamese, students, workers, and businessmen living and working in the western region of Japan.
Speaking at the funeral, Consul General Ngo Trinh Ha expressed his deep emotion at the passing of Comrade Tran Duc Luong - a staunch communist soldier, an exemplary leader, who always devoted himself to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Consul General Ha also said that at the time Comrade Tran Duc Luong assumed the role of the State President (1997-2006), the Viet Nam-Japan relationship had developed strongly, with increased cooperation in many areas such as economy, culture, education, and people-to-people exchange. Comrade Tran Duc Luong was not only a steadfast and wise but close and simple leader. He was always concerned about the lives of compatriots, both at home and abroad.
Immediately after the speech, the delegates respectfully offered incense, observed a moment of silence and wrote in the condolence book, expressing their deep gratitude to former State President Tran Duc Luong.
The Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka opened the condolence book until May 27 for the Vietnamese community and Japanese friends to burn incense and write in the condolence book for comrade Tran Duc Luong. This is an activity that demonstrates the sentiment and morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the Vietnamese people, and is also a deep gratitude to the leader who devoted his life to the country and the people.
