Vietnamese goods have plenty of room for export to Russian market

The two-way trade revenue between Vietnam and Russia reached 4.97 billion USD in the first 11 months of 2021, up 12.07% over the same period in 2020 and accounting for 0.83% of Vietnam’s total import and export revenue during the 11-month period, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Of the total, Vietnam’s revenue from exports to Russia was reported at 2.92 billion USD, up 10.62% over the same period in 2020 and accounting for 0.97% of Vietnam’s total export revenue.

Phones and components posted the largest export revenue to Russia, occupying 33.48% of total export revenue, followed by computers, electronic products and components (13.28%), and garments and textiles (10.55%).

Items that experienced year-on-year increases in export revenue include rubber (up 323.75%), machinery, equipment, and spare parts (up 80.54%), cashew nuts (up 69.73%) and pepper (up 49.63%).

However, there were still some items that witnessed decreases in export turnover, such as tea, rice, wood and wood products, footwear, iron and steel, and others.

According to statistics of the Customs of Russia, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Russia reached 5.62 billion USD in the first 10 months of 2021, up 23% over the same period last year. In which, Vietnam's export turnover to Russia reached 4.04 billion USD, up 22% while Vietnam's import turnover from Russia reached 1.58 billion USD, up 25.7% over the same period in 2020.

Vietnam currently holds the leading position in terms of trade revenue with Russia among ASEAN countries.
