The 93-metre long and 16-metre wide ship was built by the Z189 Factory under the General Department of Defence Industry.

The vessel is equipped with military hardware, with medical and life-saving equipment, and is capable of operating continuously for 30 days within a range of 4,000 nautical miles, and is capable of withstanding strong waves and winds.

Work on 927-Yet Kieu began in mid-2018 and the building of the ship took place under the strict supervision of the Vietnamese Navy, Damen Group and Lloyd's Register.

The ship is expected to fulfil the missions of rescuing submarines and surface ships, surveying the seabed, and searching and recovering undersea objects, among others.

The successful building of the 927-Yet Kieu multipurpose submarine rescue ship demonstrates the capacity of the Vietnamese military industry, helping to modernise the People’s Army of Vietnam.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Read Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem spoke highly of Z189 Factory’s efforts and asked the team tasked with operating the ship to utilise it effectively.
