Vietnamese tourism shows impressive recovery after Typhoon Yagi

Traveller’s interest in the key tourist attractions in Vietnam’s northern regions has remained encouraging despite the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi, which made landfall on September 7.

According to the digital travel platform Agoda, accommodation searches on the platform from August to October for popular destinations such as Hanoi, Sa Pa in Lao Cai Province, Ha Giang Province, Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province, Hai Phong City and its Cat Ba Island saw a 4% increase from the same period in 2023.

Data from Agoda show showed positive results, with increased searches about Vietnam from international visitors being recorded over the past three months.

Accordingly, July saw an annual increase of 4% in searches, while August noted a 31% on-year rise in interest in travel. Notably, September recorded an 84% on-year increase as international visitors set their sights on Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The increase in accommodation searches aligns with recent statistics from the General Statistics Office, which announced that the number of visitors to Vietnam in the first nine months of this year was 43% higher than last year’s.
