Speaking at the event, Nguyen Hai Yen, a representative of the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Osaka, praised the class for its role in preserving and promoting Vietnamese culinary culture. She noted that cuisine is one of the clearest expressions of national identity, and also an effective cultural bridge contributing to greater understanding and closer bonds between the Vietnamese community and the host locality.
Sharing at the event, Le Thuong, Vice President of the Vietnamese Associations Federation in Japan, said the cookery class was held in a cheerful atmosphere in celebration of the upcoming 116th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8). It also provided an opportunity for women to meet, share experiences, strengthen solidarity, and affirm the role and standing of Vietnamese women within the Vietnamese community in Japan.
At the class, participants received hands-on guidance on how to prepare dishes rich in the flavours of home. The activity helps preserve and pass on traditional cultural values to the younger generation, while introducing Vietnamese cuisine to Japanese friends. The atmosphere was lively and warm, reflecting a spirit of exchange, learning, and sharing.
Akemi Murakami, a Japanese guest, expressed her interest in and appreciation for Vietnamese women’s initiative in organising community cultural activities. She said that concrete and practical cultural exchange activities would help promote mutual understanding and strengthen cooperation and friendship between Vietnamese workers and Japan.
The cookery class in Osaka was not only a meaningful cultural activity, but also reflected a proactive spirit of integration, a sense of community responsibility, and the active role of Vietnamese women in Japan in preserving and spreading national cultural values, contributing to a united and strong overseas Vietnamese community.
